Investec's Wealth, Investment Arm In UK Brings Over Ex-Barclays Duo

Investec Wealth & Investment has appointed Darren Elmes and Steve Hart as senior investment directors to the Bournemouth office in the south of the UK.

Reporting to Scott Jones, who is head of IW&I’s Bournemouth office, the duo join from Barclays Wealth’s Bournemouth office where they were directors. Both men have over 25 years’ experience in discretionary portfolio management.

Elmes began his career in 1986 at Lloyds Private Banking in Bournemouth where he became an investment manager. He joined Capel Cure Sharp’s Poole office as an associate director in 2000 and was promoted to divisional director in 2002 following Gerrard’s acquisition by Barclays and he moved to the Bournemouth office in 2008, and became a director of Barclays Wealth in 2012.

Hart began his career at Richard Chubb Love Rogers in Salisbury in 1986 and remained there through a series of takeovers and mergers by the National Investment Group, Capel Cure Sharp, Gerrard and ultimately Barclays.

Part of the Investec financial service group, IW&I offers wealth management and investment services to private individuals, charities, trusts, international clients and financial advisors. It has around 950 staff located at its 15 offices across the UK.  IW&I has about £24 billion of client funds under management.
